Huggleboo is based on Burny Bos’s children’s book series Knofje, which in 2001 also featured the homonymous television series broadcast by the KRO on Zappelin. Since 2014, the series has also been seen digitally at the major VOD platforms. On YouTube, Knofje achieved over a million views. Since the launch of the series in 2001 to date, the series is awarded and repeated annually by the KRO. With this, Knofje is known by many generations of parents and children for over 15 years.

In collaboration with Submarine, Walking The Dog and Traumhaus Studios, we’ve developed this contemporary animation version. The first season of the TV series released in The Netherlands December 2018, and the second season release Summer 2019.

Cartoon figure Tex Bummer (12) is living with his parents in the live action Netherlands. After a long period of unemployment, his father is able to work as an actor in a number of cartoony safe traffic commercials. The Dutch people find their family very strange and even laugh at them. They call the cartoon characters “Ani’s”. Tex soon finds himself accepted only if he fools himself: after all, cartoon characters are to laugh about.

Tex wants to return home as soon as possible but changes his mind when he meets the 11-year-old Evie, a live action girl of Antillean origin. Tex falls in love with her straight away. From now on, he would like to stay in the Netherlands and put everything in order to conquer her heart.

The Puss in Boots is about miller son Jaap, who loses everything after his father died. The only one who he can trust is  his dear friend: his (Booted) cat. Together they pull through the little state Biechtenstein, looking for food and work. Through the clever and inimitable personality of the Puss, the two know how to gain the trust of the king very fast. And they even manage to get a seat at the court. But is everything as beautiful as it seems? Is princess Wendy as sweet as she looks? Can a giant also be a mouse? And how many lives does a cat actually have?

Oldest daughter Mitzi struggles with her role as the responsible, oldest daughter and hardly gets round with her own choices. Younger daughter Eefje takes all emotional space possible, for her ego and loses control. Father Rob runs into a midlife crisis and starts a new life with his employee Sonja. Mother Winnie is being thrown back on her own and searches for something to hold on in her Indonesian roots by nursing her old mum.

Annie M.G. – her songs, her romances – is a love epic about her life. The series tells the story about a shy reverend’s daughter, born in the South-West of Holland, who grows up to be one of our most loved writers of the 20th century. Annie starts with an original post-war genre with her humorous and relativizing way of writing.

In her private life, Annie’s a searching, passionate woman, who falls in love with a married man. He has an affaire with her for years and they have a child together, when she’s rather old. A woman who craves love, putting everything on the line in order to make her man a happy man, until he takes his own life.

The existence of this ‘old’ Annie consists of talking to her deceased husband Dick and writing, which is what she lives for. Music, Dance and humor are the main criteria she sticks to in her work.
