The psychological thriller Marionette, which earlier this year was awarded the prize for Best Actress and the Critics Award at the 41st edition Oporto International Film Festival – Fantasporto in Portugal, is making the step to North America with a release in November.
Scatena & Rosner Films (S&R) has acquired the North American distribution rights to Marionette from writer/director Elbert van Strien (Black Water, Uncle Henk).
The film, starring Thekla Reuten (The American, De Reünie, Red Sparrow), Peter Mullan (The Magdalene Sisters), and Elijah Wolf, will launch on November 3th by S&R on multiple cable, satellite and VOD platforms, after which a release on SVOD platforms to follow.
In Marionette, child psychiatrist Marianne Winter (Thekla Reuten) loses her grip on reality when her 10-year-old patient Manny claims he can control her future.

Marionette has also been sold to France and Switzerland and is now on display in 73 countries, including the UK/Ireland, Russia/Ukraine, the Middle East and South Korea.
Marionette was produced by Accento Films (NL) and BosBros (NL) in co-production with Samsa Film (LUX) and Black Camel Pictures (UK) and was realized with support from the Netherlands Film Fund, the Netherlands Filmproduction Incentive, the Luxembourg Filmfund, Screen Scotland, AVROTROS, CoBO Fund and Creative Europe.
